We’ve been living in Mississippi longer than in any other state. Every other state, we’ve been there from a week to a month. Altogether, we’ve been in Mississippi for about 4 1/2 months if not more. The first time we stayed in Mississippi, we had just left Hoover, AL.
We stayed in a city called Laurel, which was basically in the middle of nowhere but it had some beautiful scenery. The RV park we stayed at was called Sleepy Hollow RV park. The owners there were the sweetest people. They took care of us and they knew us a little bit because after every week we would go to the office and renew our stay. They knew what we came to the office for and we all laughed every time. I’d always say, “Guess what I’m here for.” Or they would say, “Let me guess. You here you renew your spot.” The closest city from us was Hattiesburg, which was a 30 min drive from where we were. But the cell site that Nathan was working on was a 40 min drive from Laurel. Once in a while, I would get materials and food and water for him and take it. Sometimes I would help a bit on the site.
After going to a site in Whiteville, TN and staying in Jackson, TN, we drove back down to Mississippi and are currently staying at the Starkville KOA in Starkville, MS. We’ve been here the longest. The KOA is right by a beautiful lake. The closest city is Tupelo, which is an 1 1/2 hours away. Memphis is only 2 1/2 hours away and we’ve visited there sometimes. The owners are super nice as well. They let us leave one of Nathan’s work trailers there while we went home for Christmas. They’ve let us do whatever we need to as longer as it doesn’t disturb our “neighbors”. Sometimes we go to our storage unit to clean out the trailers so that it doesn’t disturb anyone. Most of the time we’ve kept to ourselves but most of the time Nathan is gone working close by or away in a different state. Sometimes I’ll take a walk around the park to get out of the house and get some exercise. Overall, our stay in Mississippi as been really good and I would like to visit more of it at some point.
